Private Lessons
Policies for Private, Semi-Private, and Student Choreography Lessons

• Any student may request a private lesson

• Private lessons may be done in any discipline (ballet, jazz, hip/hop, tap, lyrical and pointe, per instructor permission). However, it is recommended that a student have a good ballet background prior to beginning lyrical.

• Lessons are scheduled at the beginning of the year on a regular basis. Usually 2x/month or 1x/week for either a ½ hour or hour depending on instructor, studio and student availability.

• Private lesson fees are due at the beginning of each semester and follow the same payment guidelines as regular classes.

• If you are unable to attend a private lesson you must contact your instructor 24 hours in advance in order to be allowed a make up session. If it is known prior to the lesson that the student cannot attend please tell the instructor as soon as possible as this time is valuable and may be used for other make-ups.

• Students may be asked to learn a solo routine for the performance and will be allowed to compete per the instructor's recommendation. Not all students will be allowed to start a routine.

• Students involved in semi-privates need to coordinate their schedules. If one student is able to attend, the lesson will be conducted as usual unless prior arrangements to reschedule have been made.

• Students involved in private and semi-private lessons are expected to work to their highest potential during their lesson. Dress code still applies!!! Please arrive 10-15 mintues before your scheduled time to stretch and warm-up.

• Students interested in doing student choreography must be registered for two ½ hour lesson per month with an instructor.

• Only 1 student choreography routine is allowed per student per year.

• Student choreography routines are not guaranteed to go to competition or perform in the Spring Performance. Ms. Rana and Mrs. Jennifer must approve routines by the first week of 2nd semester. NO EXCEPTIONS.

• Ms. Rana and Mrs. Jennifer reserve the right to alter any choreography they see inappropriate.

• No choreography by others outside of Northern instructors or Northern students will be allowed to compete under Northern Dance Academy's name, or perform in our Spring Performance.

• Students may only dance/compete their routines under Northern Dance Academy's name. Students must request, in writing, to use choreography for other events outside of Northern Dance Academy. Not all requests will be granted.
